SIGHT-SINGING COURSE

Want to join a choir, but sheet music feels like a different language?

A beginner-friendly course that will help you understand what you’re seeing, hear where the music is going and sing your part with confidence.

September–December · Mondays · 6:00–7:15 pm

No previous musical training required.

You shouldn’t have to guess your way through a song.

When you don’t understand the music on the page, every new piece can feel like a puzzle.

Which note comes next?
Where is the melody going?
Why does this chord sound like that?

We’ll start from the beginning and help you understand the language of music — so you can spend less time worrying about what’s coming next and more time actually singing and enjoying the music.

Discover how music works.

We’ll build your musical understanding from the ground up.

🎵 Notes & Rhythm

Understand what you’re seeing and how it translates into sound.

↔️ Intervals

Hear the distance between notes and recognise where the melody is going.

🔑 Keys & Scales

Understand how music is organised and why notes belong together.

🎶 Harmony

Discover what’s happening underneath your melody and how your part fits into the whole.

Our book

We’ll work through Successful Sight-Singing, Book 1 by Nancy Telfer, following the programme step by step from the beginning.

You’ll need your own copy. Full details will be sent after booking.

Imagine opening your music and knowing what you’re looking at.

Instead of anxiously trying to guess where your melody is going, you’ll start recognising patterns, understanding your place in the harmony and knowing what to expect.

  • Read with more confidence.
  • Learn your part more independently.
  • Enjoy singing without constantly worrying about what’s next.

Want to put your new skills into practice?

Our choir rehearses straight after the course at 7:30 pm.

You don’t have to do both.

Ready to understand the music you’re singing?
